George's Army Record book - still bound in it's leather cover - was carried by George from the date he joined the Royal Artillery in Dover at 15 years old until his death in India from enteric fever, aged 23.
Sent back to his mother, Ellen, after his death, the book was passed down through her son Patrick Gorman (her son with George's stepdad, John Gorman, who Ellen married after Geoerge's father William died).
I was sent it by one of Patrick's grandsons, who felt I would benefit more from it that he! It is one of the most treasured items in the Willis archives.
