  • Notes
    • On the marriage certificate Mabel gave her father's name as Harry Arnold, a painter, deceased. Its probable that she used the name of her uncle, Henry Joseph Arnold killed in action on 17 September 1917 - a victim of World War 1, to cover up the fact the she did not know her real father.
    • According to her birth certificate she was born on 12 November 1891 at the Union Workhouse Faversham. This was also known as Gravel Pit House. There is a slight discrepancy because her death registration says birth year was 1890. Guess this is one that we will never know. When I received the certificate I was surprised to find that there is no father shown and Ellen registered the birth, but not until 3rd February 1892. What this does tell us is that when she visited Alice, Ellen was about 3 months pregnant. [Malcolm Harrison, grandson]
